WE LOVE GRAPHIC DESIGN 2019

Each year, the design festival We Love Graphic Design summons 6 unique speakers who work in different design disciplines, to inspire fellow graphic designers.
This year, I was asked to create all graphic material. In the spirit of the festival, I wanted to experiment and play around with as many different techniques and media as possible. Also, I wanted to create things that were durable for more than just one day.

With this notion in mind, the teaser campaign became a digital wallpaper pack, the entry pass a porcelain key ring, and the program for the day was not only a program – but a book – including presentation of the speakers, empty pages for notes, and the festival itinerary.

ENTRY PASS / KEY RING

Ceramics is a wonderful, organic material. To give the attendants a durable treat, we created porcelain key rings as entry passes. Ceramics artist Tina Secher hand crafted 550 key rings based on the design sketch on the right.

Thanks to the team at WLGD for assembling the pieces.

PROGRAM / CATALOGUE / NOTEBOOK

Sometimes a festival program is just a one-page flyer. You have to take notes in your own notebook – if you brought one – and the overwhelming impressions from the speakers and visuals might get mixed up in your mind or lost in memory.

This year, we wanted to take care of those issues in one go: We designed a book that contains both the program, a catalogue of the speakers, and empty pages for personal notes. And had it printed at one of the finest art book printing houses in Denmark, Narayana Press.

In the early exploration phase, I experimented with different analogue and digital concepts. Fragments of these were used as texture in the logo and distributed as a digital wallpaper pack.
